Pumpkin carving

On Friday evening we finally decided to go get some pumpkins. There is this little farm that has a pumpkin stand set up a few miles outside of town, so we ran over there with Emma and let her pick some out. Emma kept telling us that she was going to get a "baby pumpkin". Emma is all about babies. She wants a baby sucker, babies for Christmas, babies on TV.. So it was perfectly suitable that she wanted to find herself a baby pumpkin.

She was very excited about all of the pumpkins that she had to choose from.

One of the reasons I like living in a small town is that all of the little roadside stands use the honor system. They even had a box that said "money to make change" and it was full of cash!

They had hay wagons full of pumpkins, and the sweetest black cat with little nubs for ears that Emma wanted to bring home.

It was rubbing up against Emma the entire time. I kinda wanted to bring it home, too!

When we got home, Emma was a big help with the carving. She got every spoon out of our drawer and mixed up all of the "guts" from inside the pumpkins. She was very careful not to touch the guts with her hands (she is her father's daughter in more ways than one). There ended up being quite a bit on the floor and on the walls, but only because Emma took her job as the gut stirrer very very seriously.

She says that hers is on the left, mine is in the middle, and dad's is on the right. She was very adamant on who's pumpkin was who's. (Icky color cast on the picture - It was super dark and I tried to lighten it)

Emma is very excited to light up the pumpkins for the trick-or-treaters. When we lit up the pumpkins after carving them Emma was so thrilled. She ran around yelling "hot pumpkins", "hot pumpkins" - something only a 2 year old would think of!
